Israeli data collection company Bright Data, formerly called Luminati Networks, has established a new initiative to assist the UK’s National Data Strategy called The Bright Initiative. The company will work together with multiple British organizations on the project.
The National Data Strategy (NDS) is described by the British government as an ambitious, pro-growth strategy that drives the UK in building a world-leading data economy while ensuring public trust in data use.

Our submission to the #NDS consultation called for a focus on web #transparency, ethics and skills – Looking forward to discussing these and other issues with Minister @JWhittingdale at the event we’re hosting with @EntForumUK tomorrow!

Founded in 2014, Bright Data offers its partners and clients several layers GDPR and CCPA compliant proxy network and data collection solutions which it states are unique and unrivaled – with 72 million residential IP addresses and over 750 granted patent claims.
Bright Data declares its mission to be to “shine a bright light on the Internet, making it transparent again.” The company boasts that its SaaS platform allows its thousands of customers to tap into the Internet, the world’s largest database, and collect large amounts of public unstructured data and transform it into structured data. Bright Data’s customer base includes large e-commerce, finance, travel, and security firms that benefit from near-live data insights, allowing them to act on the latest decision-making factors with speed and simplicity.
Or Lenchner, CEO of Bright Data said, “The NDS will put the UK at the forefront of unlocking the full social and economic potential of data. As an industry-leading online data collection platform, we consider it our duty to do all we can to ensure its success. The ambitious goals of the NDS will only be achieved through a truly collaborative effort from the private, public and third sector. The work our Initiative is doing with this initial group of partners puts this principle into practice and we look forward to building on it with others over the coming months.”

News of the Bright Initiative’s support comes following the UK Government’s publication of its response to the findings of a consultation on the strategy, which ran last year. As a key contributor to the consultation, Bright Data recommended that early delivery work prioritize internet transparency, data skills and the ethics of data collection.
Recognizing that the full scale of the NDS will only be delivered through the joint contribution of the private sector alongside public and non-profit partners, Bright Data, through the Bright Initiative, is working with a range of organizations to help take these priorities forward.
