Indonesian plane disappears 4 minutes after take-off

UPDATE: Authorities in Indonesia have confirmed that remains belonging to the missing plane were found near the country’s shores.

A Sriwijaya Air Boeing 737-500 182 lost contact with Indonesian aviation authorities after taking off from capital Jakarta, according to reports around the world.

According to Flightradar24, the plane lost a great deal of altitude before disappearing from the radar. The connection with the plane was completely severed and it is not yet known what happened to it. The plane had 62 passengers and crew, including children and babies.

Authorities in Indonesia confirmed that remains belonging to the missing plane were found near the country’s shores. Indonesian television is broadcasting images of finds from the area where the plane is believed to have crashed.
