Rahm Emanuel, former Mayor of Chicago, the former White House Chief of Staff and former Congressman, is being touted as a possible member of President Elect Joe Biden’s future cabinet. But with all of his credentials Emanuel may be too controversial a figure for such a job.
Currently, Rahm Emanuel is doing his part in the public relations campaign to attack President Trump’s calls for legal actions and recounts in a number of states where he lost to Joe Biden by a narrow margin.

Emanuel told the Chicago Sun Times, “Donald Trump’s kind of posture his whole life has been, ‘Either I win or it’s been stolen.’ It’s his grievance politics. This is who he is. He plays the grievance card.”
“The same way he said he had the ‘biggest [inauguration] crowd. Bigger than Obama. Best president that Black America ever had.’ Then he goes on to make a claim like this, which is, he didn’t lose. It was stolen. He gets to walk away with whatever die-hard followers he has saying this was not legit. It’s all about him and nothing to do with the country.”
Rahm Emanuel has previous experience working with the former Vice President who’s first two years in office coincided with Emanuel’s time serving as the White House Chief of Staff. And he also served as an unofficial advisor to the Biden 2020 camping.
But the extreme wing of the Democratic Party sees him as not good for liberals because of his past policies.
Democratic Congresswoman from New York Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told the New York Times, “Someone like Rahm Emanuel would be a pretty divisive pick. And it would signal, I think, a hostile approach to the grass-roots and the progressive wing of the party.”
It should be remembered, however, that members of the House of Representatives do not have a vote over the confirmation of Cabinet secretaries nor for any appointees to Federal office. And Ocasio-Cortez is not very popular in her own party, to say the least.
Meanwhile, Rahm Emanuel’s brother Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, is already working in an official capacity for the President Elect’s transition team. Dr. Emanuel, an oncologist who works with the National Institutes of Health and served as a White House advisor under President Obama from 2009 to 2011, was appointed by Joe Biden to his Corona Virus task force.
“Dealing with the coronavirus pandemic is one of the most important battles our administration will face, and I will be informed by science and by experts,” said President Elect Biden in a statement. “The advisory board will help shape my approach to managing the surge in reported infections; ensuring vaccines are safe, effective, and distributed efficiently, equitably, and free; and protecting at-risk populations.”
So we may, in the end, see the Emanuel brothers, Rahm and Ezekiel, serving together at the same time in the Joe Biden Administration.
