Mark Cuban Invests In Vegan Deli And Startup Hug Sleep

And Mark Cuban is also slamming President Trump.

Mark Cuban has put $300,000 into a sleep pod creator Hug Sleep. And he is also anticipating big returns from his investment in Mrs. Goldfarb’s Unreal Deli.

Created by the husband and wife team Matt Mundt and Angie Kupper, Hug Sleep offers the Sleep Pod which helps people with sleep anxiety and other sleeping problems. They started with just the $2,500 they had in savings and in just 16 months generated $490,000 in sales.

On his show “Shark Tank,” Mark Cuban told the couple, “I’ve got people in my household, in my family, that have sensory issues. That’s why it’s very close to me. I’ll make you two offers: One will be just what you asked for, $150,000 for 10%. And the one I prefer is $300,000 for 20%, so that way, we’re closer partners.”

Now the New York Post reports that Cuban thinks that company, which expects $3 million in revenue for the current year, has the potential to hit $50 million in sales.

Mrs. Goldfarb’s Unreal Deli counts major fast food sandwich chain Quizno’s as one of its customers. Quizno’s is testing Unreal Deli’s vegetarian meat alternatives in some of its Denver and Seattle branches and the company hopes to eventually offer it nationwide.

“Sales are really, really good — better than I imagined,” Cuban told The Post. “I never saw it happening this fast. In particular, we have distributors around the world now. I didn’t see that coming.”

“I see this as creating the plant-based corned-beef and pastrami markets and taking a lot of market share from plant-based turkey slices,” said Cuban. “I would always rather create a market. That’s when the home runs start.”

Mark Cuban is also speaking out on the US Presidential race. He has been a vocal critic of Donald Trump in the past and even floated the idea of running for President himself.

In support of Joe Biden’s election Mark Cuban recently tweeted, “For those of you without Health Insurance, open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act starts TODAY ! Make sure to check for any subsidies that you are eligible for! https://healthcare.gov PS, if you are an entrepreneur you can work your startup and still get subsidies !”

And he was just interviewed by sports journalist Sam Amick who covers the NBA on Instagram live. In the interview the Dallas Mavericks owner slammed President Trump for failing to be a leader during the Corona Virus crisis.

Mark Cuban said, “You always have to realize that without leadership, there’s instability and instability is the worst thing that can happen to a business. If you can’t open the doors in your community whether it’s because of instability, civil unrest or COVID, it doesn’t matter how great of an entrepreneur, it doesn’t matter how many customers you may want or have because they can’t come see you.”

“Just the way that Donald Trump has just botched so completely the response to COVID, he has crushed hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of businesses.”
