What Is A Military Status and How Does One Check It?

Lenders, bankers, and others who have business with service members must often make a military status check to stay updated with the Service members Civil Relief Act.

By federal law, the SCRA gives certain protections to those military personnel who are on active duty status. For instance, these include protection from eviction and repossession without an order from the court. The SRCA also makes it mandatory that there should be a 6% interest on loans for the members of the military armed forces.

You can retrieve information on a veteran’s military service records from the Department of Veterans Affairs. Unfortunately, it is not that easy to get a hold of military records.

First and foremost, you will need the social security number of the veteran. If you won’t be able to get hold of this, the process of claiming military records will be more difficult.

This is why the SRCA is essential to lenders, bankers, and those who do business with military personnel.
