Google to ban all cryptocurrency ads starting June 2018

Google will no longer allow ads about cryptocurrency-related content, including initial coin offerings, wallets, and trading advice across any of its advertising platforms, Google’s director of sustainable ads, Scott Spencer, told CNBC.

The move follows a similar ban by Facebook earlier this year. The timing coincides with a congressional hearing on ICOs and crypto assets.

According to the new approach, even companies with legitimate cryptocurrency offerings won’t be allowed to publish adverts on sites who work with Google.

This update will go into effect in June 2018, according to a company post.
