Israeli researchers achieve a breakthrough in skin aging research

An Israeli research team at Bar-Ilan University have developed a breakthrough technology that fighting wrinkles and sagging skin that allows molecules of hyaluronic acid polymers to applied as cream instead of needing to be injected into the skin.

The skin, which plays a significant role in protecting our organs, is impenetrable. Finding means to penetrate the skin barrier has challenged the medical field for years. Enormous efforts have made in developing ways to introduce hyaluronic acid into the skin since it cannot penetrate it naturally.

The team headed by Prof. Rachel Lubart and Prof. Aharon Gedanken have involved for the past few years in developing the technology for the micronization and characterization of hyaluronic acid. The unique technology has allowed the researchers to produce hyaluronic acid with different size particles.

Following the results para-medical cosmetics Hava Zingboim has developed the first-ever formula that allows the hyaluronic acid to penetrate into skin layers using cream application and without injection.

Before and After

A key property of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally present in the human body, is its ability to absorb large quantities of water. Hyaluronic acid is also an effective antioxidant, which means it can trap the free radicals formed in the skin during the inflammatory processes or as a result of exposure to UV rays. These properties make it an important anti-aging agent.

The look of young skin can be measured by the amount of hyaluronic acid between the cells. Unfortunately, as we age, our body gradually loses its ability to produce hyaluronic acid. The decreasing its availability directly results in wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin.

A powder form of hyaluronic acid with small particles capable of penetrating the skin is available. However, the powder has to be dissolved in water first.  This causes it to lose its small molecular structure inside the liquid phase. Also, it loses its ability to absorb water leaving it incapable penetrating the skin and as a result, it loses its ability to smooth out wrinkles and trap free radicals.

All this is changing now with the revolutionary innovation that allows micronizing these molecules inside the water. Once they reach nano size, the molecules are transferred into the formula, which enables them to remain nano-sized throughout the process. To date, this is the only technology in the world capable of creating small molecules that remain small even when applied to the skin.

The effect of the micronized hyaluronic acid applied to the skin is identical to the effect achieved when injecting into the skin, with the benefits of enhanced skin texture and a younger look.
