Michigan Recount Stopped — Jill Stein Looking Foolish

jill_stein

The Michigan recount of the State’s votes in the 2016 election called for by Jill Stein’s campaign has been stopped. U.S. District Judge Mark Goldsmith ordered on Wednesday night that the recount be halted.

The Green Party’s Presidential candidate has been mocked for spending more on her recount efforts than she did on her entire campaign. But Jill Stein is not giving up.

Judge Mark Goldsmith said in his ruling to stop the Michigan recount, “Because there is no basis for this court to ignore the Michigan court’s ruling and make an independent judgment regarding what the Michigan legislature intended by the term ‘aggrieved’, plaintiffs have not shown an entitlement to a recount.” Stein has hoped that a Federal court would overturn the Michigan State court’s previous ruling against a recount.

In addition to the Michigan recount, Stein is still pushing for recounts in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania too.

Speaking out against the Michigan recount ruling, Stein campaign lawyer’s issued a statement saying, “We are not backing down from this fight ― a fight to protect the hard-fought, hard-won civil and voting rights of all Americans. Our campaign will seek immediate relief in Michigan’s Supreme Court to ensure the recount that is already underway in all Michigan counties continues.”

“With so many irregularities in Michigan ― including more than 75, 000 under-votes, many in urban areas, and widespread carelessness, and perhaps interference, with preserving ballots ― there is a real possibility the rights of voters in Michigan may have been suppressed during this election.”
