An inter-ministerial negotiations team and the companies developing Israel’s offshore natural gas reserves reached an agreement over gas regulatory policy on Wednesday night. The framework plan will be submitted for the government’s approval on Sunday.
The government offered Noble Energy to base the price of future natural gas contracts for the Tamar offshore site on electricity production contracts already signed with the private sector. In these contracts, the price of gas is set at $5 per million BTU, and may go down to $4.7 in the end of the year.
