The show was based on the classic Coen Brothers movie from 1995 of the same name, but really had nothing to do with it. The show was not a continuation of the film, nor did it have any of the same characters in it. But it did have a few nods to the movie.

Like HBO’s “True Detective, ” Fargo’s second season will have a completely different cast featuring Kirsten Dunst, Ted Danson and Adam Arkin.
Lets hope it does a better job in its second year than True Detective has done. That show’s new installment has been decried by viewers and critics alike.
