Harry Shearer Returning to Simpsons for Two More Seasons

The news comes two months after he failed to agree to a knew contract with the show’s producers.

Good news for Simpsons fans! Mr. Burns, Smithers, Ned Flanders, Lenny and many more of their favorite characters will remain the same now that Harry Shearer has signed on to return for the show’s 36th and 37th seasons.

Just two months ago Shearer, who had voiced all of the above characters for The Simpsons first 26 years, failed to renew his contract for the show’s next 2 years. He cited as the reason then the producers’ desire not to let him continue to do outside work.

Now all of the show’s main cast members will be back. Fox television issued a press release boasting, “Each and every member of the iconic series’ voice cast will be returning in the roles they’ve brought to life since the show’s beginnings as a series of animated shorts nearly 30 years ago.”

There is no word yet on what ended the stand off between Shearer and the show’s producers.

Two months ago he released a statement saying, “Harry Shearer was offered the same deal the rest of the cast accepted, and passed. The show will go on and we wish him well. Maggie took it hard.”
