The conflict between Uber Group and France has taken another turn with the news that the company will suspend UberPOP there as of from 8PM local time today.
The ride-sharing service has suffered from many protests from taxi drivers, who attacked its cars and drivers in recent weeks. So as to protect the company’s personnel and passengers, Uber has decided to halt operations there until at least September 30th. That is when the French Constitutional court will rule on whether a call to ban the service was legal.
“The main issue here isn’t coercion, however violence” per Uber France chief executive officer Thibaut Simphal, who was speaking to le Monde. the manager is presently awaiting trial within the country when being inactive on charges of running UberPOP now as an illegal taxi service.

The reason for the hostility is all the way down to the fact that taxi drivers pay a high fees for select up passengers on the road. Uber, meanwhile, blurs the road between a private rent vehicle and a taxi, that has left the incumbents feeling threatened.
