NBA Star Stephen Curry’s Mother Sonia Curry: Trip to Israel Changed My Life

“I actually love Hebrew.”

Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors are currently sitting on a 3 game to 2 lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA finals. While Israelis root for Cleveland because of their Israeli head coach David Blatt, the mother of the Golden State player, Sonia Curry, has given Israelis a reason to root for her son’s team too.

In an interview with Israel’s cable Sport 5 channel after Golden State won game 5 in the series, Sonia Curry talked about the trip she once made to Israel. Curry said that it was a very spiritually uplifting experience and that she wants to learn Hebrew.

“I actually love Hebrew, ” she said. “I just love that Jesus [spoke] Hebrew. I wanted to learn so I could read the Torah in Hebrew.”

Both Sonia and Stephen have Hebrew words tattooed on the backs of their necks.
