In the original agreement there was an option to expand the size of its second Herzliya building, aside from its 125, 000 square foot central Herzliya headquarters. As the second building nears occupancy, Apple has decided to excersize the option, with the office likely to be operational in the last quarter of 2015.

Apple entered Israel just two-and-a-half years ago, in 2013, and has already opened a third development center in Raanana. The company currently has 700 workers, most of them chip engineers.

Indicating Apple’s focus on Israel, the company’s CEO Tim Cook visited the country for the first time in February 2015. He stressed the strategic importance for Apple in its activities in the Jewish state.

Two weeks ago Apple acquired an Israeli company, Lin X, for about $18 million. LinX specializes in creating multi-aperture camera equipment for mobile devices. This marked Apple’s first acquisition in Israel.
