Fox has announced that both David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will be reprising their roles as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully in a revival of the iconic television series “The X Files.” Sci Fi geeks around the world rejoice.

The show’s creator, Chris Carter, is also returning. No premiere date has as of yet been set.

Duchovny, whose father was Jewish, will be making the new episodes concurrent to starring on his new TV series, “Aquarius.”

The show, which originally aired for nine seasons, from 1993 to 2002, and had 201 episodes, will return for 6 more episodes. “The X Files” also had two motion pictures, including one which was released while the television program was still on the air.

The two actors said in a joint statement, “We had the privilege of working with Chris on all nine seasons of ‘The X-Files’ — one of the most rewarding creative experiences of our careers — and we couldn’t be more excited to explore that incredible world with him again.”

For his part Carter said, “I think of it as a 13-year commercial break. The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”
