Police Catch Man Who Stole Online Date’s Car

Now he’s behind bars.

Waterford, N.J. police say a man suspected of stealing a woman’s car on their first date last month is now in custody, AP reported.

According to Waterford police, 53-year-old Gerald Tietz was arrested Saturday after the stolen car he was driving, bearing the vanity plate “JSRYGRL, ” was seen in Cherry Hill.

Tietz and the car’s owner, a New Jersey resident, met online and decide to get together Feb. 26. According to police, Tietz told the woman his name was Gennaro Aladena, nickname “Gooch.”

Some time during that evening, police believe Tietz took the woman’s car keys and drove off.

Now he’s behind bars.
