Israeli Flash Networks Monetization Solution to Be Used by 200 Million Subscribers

More than 80% of web pages browsed by subscribers exhibit potential offers, resulting in significant revenue opportunities for mobile operators.

Flash Network

Flash Networks, the leading provider of mobile Internet optimization and monetization solutions, announced today that its Layer8 clientless monetization solution was selected by seven operators in the last six months and is planned to be used by over 200 million subscribers worldwide. The latest customers include operators in Asia and Europe and one large operator group which plans to deploy at several properties.

Layer8 is a clientless monetization solution that reinvents the way operators engage with their subscriber base and enables mobile operators to join forces with over-the-top (OTT) players instead of competing with them.

Liam Galin, President & CEO of Flash Networks, explains, “What we actually do is allow operators to partner with OTT players by offering them the ability to appear on the mobile browser in the right context and at the right time in a clientless way without the need for any download. Using this approach, we are creating an entirely new market segment – with-the-top (WTT) – where operators and OTT players cooperate rather than compete. From now on we no longer want operators to think in OTT terms but rather consider themselves part of the WTT ecosystem. As part of this ecosystem, we have already partnered with over 200 content providers across the globe, enabling Layer8 to be used by operators to reach out and offer relevant content directly to their subscribers in an appealing way.

Appearing as a visual layer on the user’s browser, Layer8 unveils relevant content and operator-owned advertising space when subscribers click on an unobtrusive “curl.”  More than 80% of web pages browsed by subscribers exhibit potential offers, resulting in significant revenue opportunities for mobile operators.

Flash Networks is not only a technology provider but also handles all the management of ad inventory, placement, and revenue models. With Layer8, operators can provide personal account information and offer upsell opportunities such as data top-up packages, mobile wallets, and content including music, movies, and games. In addition, operators can provide product recommendations, including discounts and coupons from nearby businesses, recommended content, and offer much more to subscribers, adding new value to the browsing experience in a clientless way.

Galin continued, “Layer8 creates a massive amount of new advertising inventory that the operator controls and monetizes to generate revenues from the very first day. And as the innovators of the WTT domain, we are continuously teaming up with content providers and local businesses to discover new differentiating services that also boost profitability. It is the first time that a true win-win-win scenario has been created in which subscribers, operators, and content providers all benefit.”

Layer8 will be demonstrated at Mobile World Congress, on March 2-5 in Barcelona, Spain at Flash Networks’ stand (5D60).
