Harvey Weinstein Defends American Sniper

Harvey Weinstein has come out swinging against the critics of America’s current number one picture “American Sniper” which he co-produced.
“American Sniper, ” while a box office blockbuster and a multiple Oscar nominee, has been criticized by some for what they say is a glorification of war and a killer. Others have pointed to the fact that the Clint Eastwood directed movie whitewashes its true life main character’s story and ignores some questionable comments that he made in his book.

The head of the Weinstein company dismissed such criticisms telling IndieWire, “If you’re going to write an article, just do one thing that used to happen all the time: do the research.”

“How about all these pieces of junk our kids are seeing? Let’s go after them instead, ” he added. “No one was ever saying, ‘There’s a really good story about a human being who hands out money to children, builds houses, works hard. The Jimmy Carter story. You sit in an editorial meeting and [pitch] the Jimmy Carter story and they go, ‘Fucking boring. I don’t give a shit.’ Our priorities are so screwed. When you say, ‘Hey, ‘American Sniper’s’ got a hole in it, ‘ they salivate over that stuff. It’s sexy.”

The famed Hollywood producer has also made peace with Broadway PR expert Rick Miramontez over the Broadway stage version of “Finding Neverland, ” whose movie like trailer has just been release.
