This year’s Oscar telecast producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan said, “Adam Levine is an exceptional and dynamic artist. We’re thrilled to have him make his Oscars stage debut this year.”
The movie also marked the Maroon Five singer’s acting debut. In it he played a small supporting role. “Begin Again” starred Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo. Knightley sang the song in the film, but did not wish to perform at the Oscar ceremony.
Levine tweeted about getting the honor, “So…I’ll be singing at the #OSCARS!!! Whaaaat??!?!? Thank you @theAcademy! #LostStars.”
He will also perform a duet with Gwen Stefani at this year’s Grammy Awards ceremony. There will also be a duet of Lady Gaga and Tony Benet.
“Throughout the years, the Grammy Awards has paired musical icons with new, upcoming artists to give fans remarkable performances that can only be seen on our stage, ” Recording Academy President and CEO Neil Portnow said in a statement. “This year is no different and, once again, promises to bring together unique musical worlds in innovative ways that blend genres and create new artistic boundaries.”
The 57th annual Grammy Awards will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles two weeks before the Oscars on Sunday February 8th.
Meanwhile Levine’s new wife Behati Prinsloo has recreated their wedding photos in a new ad campaign for Tommy Hilfiger. Only a model stood in for her husband.
“This season, The Hilfigers celebrate a family wedding with their own twist, ” Tommy Hilfiger said in a statement. “Inspired by my own family and the spirited heritage of the Tommy Hilfiger brand, the campaign captures a unique, eclectic mix of attitudes and styles. For Spring 2015, our collection fuses a relaxed rock-and-roll edge with our signature stamp that’s East Coast cool. The Hilfigers embody a free-spirited interpretation of the fun and irreverent attitude that’s at the heart of our brand.”
