Will Mikhail Prokhorov Sell The Brooklyn Nets?

Mikhail Prokhorov nets

Brooklyn Nets owner, Mikhail Prokhorov spent a fortune trying to make his team into a big winner, and now he is having a fire sale of star players to get out of the mess, as expressed by nyc.Barstool sports.

ESPN reports that the Nets is making three star players available: Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez. There is talk that Prokhorov is trying to “blow up his team and start over.” But there is more talk that Prokhorov is willing to sell off the team entirely. It makes sense, since the Nets have lost crucial games, five in fact, and the owner hasn’t been seen in attendance often. Jason Kidd, who was head coach, asked for authority in making personnel decisions, but “jumped ship.”

Dwight Howard was willing to leave Orlando Magic and come to Brooklyn as a star player, but Nets weren’t able or willing to make a deal with Orlando Magic, and ended up getting traded to the Lakers and then Houston. Howard told NBC sports, “Everything happens for a reason. I was looking forward to one day being in Brooklyn at the time, but I found a great home in Houston.”

If this were football instead of basketball, Prokhorov could be accused of fumbling, and maybe he should just (to change the analogy back to basketball) get off the court. Prokhorov wears many hats, as an entrepreneur industrialist and former politician. Perhaps he should return to some of his former pursuits.
