The Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) has named Micky Arison, Chairman of Carnival Corporation as its new Executive Committee chairman, as reported by gnomes national news service. Arison takes over from Kevin Sheehan, who was head of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.
Arison’s roles will include keeping an open and consistent dialogue between cruise lines and destinations, addressing important issues in the cruise industry, such as budgetary concerns, the image of the industry and passenger satisfaction.

Arison has worked in the cruise line business for most of his life, since his father, Ted, founded Carnival Cruise line after he fought in Israel’s War of Independence. Micky Arison has received the “Officer of the French Legion of Honor” from Jacques Chirac and the Order of the Lion from Finland. Micky Arison was born in Tel Aviv and is owner of the Miami Heat. His sister, Shari, owns Bank HaPoalim and is rated by Forbes as the richest woman in the Middle East.
