Phil Gordon, of professional poker fame, raised $2.35 million for Tetrapod, a startup that facilitates chat from email, as reported by Geek Wire. Tetrapod is using the funding to develop and advanced service called Chatbox. Those involved in funding include Sue Decker, President of Yahoo, Scott Banister of Paypal, Robert Goldstein of Gotham Capital and Prosperity Capitals Mattais Westman.
Goldstein and Doug Miller of LivingSocial will be on the company’s board. With 6 employees, Gordon expects new blood to come on board for 2015. Gordon’s prior project folded after an acquisition didn’t pan out. The startup was called Jawfish Games, and Gordon commented, “Tetrapod is a natural evolutionary step up from a Jawfish.”
