Pascal seems to encourage Jolie in her filming of Cleopatra while bitching about her to Rudin and vice versa, according to Gawker. Rudin called Jolie a “spoiled brat, ” after she asked David Fincher to direct her film and caused him to dump the Steve Jobs biopic.

Pascal emailed Jolie that the script by Eric Roth “needed cleaning up, ” but then wrote to Rudin, “She knows its off. Calm down. She’s an actress for hire, not Cleopatra.” Pascal said Jolie liked the rewrite because in the new version, the character lacked vulnerability, “and she is responsible for everything that happens.”

Directors like Martin Scorcese and Ridley Scott were suggested to Jolie by Rudin, who wrote to Pascal, “Beyond belief. She’s studying films. Kill me, please. Immediately.” Pascal and Rudin wanted to abandon Roth’s script and do another film version of Antony and Cleopatra, but Jolie thought Roth had done a fine job so far and to continue with him. Rudin wrote to Pascal that Jolie was “seriously out of her mind, ” and at the suggestion they meet in person with Jolie, Rudin responded, “Nooooo, noooo, noooo not a meeting!”

Scott Rudin is the only producer to win a Grammy, an Emmy, an Oscar and a Tony. He was raised in a Jewish family in Baldwin, New York.
