Over 5, 000 people died in November due to jihadist violence, according to a BBC study. There were an average of 22 attacks every day with 168 fatalities, equating to 7 every hour. 80 percent of all deaths from jihadist terror occurred in just four nations – Iraq, Nigeria, Afghanistan and Syria. Iraq had the highest death toll of any country worldwide with 1, 770 fatalities.

Unsurprisingly, considering the death toll in both Iraq and Syria, ISIS was responsible for much of the carnage. Out of all Islamic terrorist groups worldwide, ISIS caused 44 percent of all November deaths – 2, 206 in total. Boko Haram in Nigeria came second with 801 while the Taliban came third with 720. The situation is getting increasingly complex as 60 percent of all deaths were caused by ambitious power-hungry groups with no formal connection to al-Qaeda.
