J.J. Abrams to Make New Secret Sci Fi Movie, No, Not Star Wars

J.J. Abrams

The new Star Wars director J.J. Abrams has signed a deal with Sony Pictures for a secret science fiction project. The new movie will be produced by Abrams through his Bad Robot production company and directed by Chris Alexander.

The only thing known so far about the new film is that it has something to do with aliens.

Abrams shopped the project around after his “home studio” Paramount delayed production after several script changes. Sony won the rights after a bidding war with other studios which included Lionsgate and STX.

Meanwhile, George Lucas does not seem to be eager to see the new Star Wars helmed by his replacement in the series. He has not even watched the recently released first teaser trailer for the movie.

As Lucas told the New York Post, “I don’t know anything about it. I haven’t seen it yet.” He added, “Because it’s not in the movie theater. I like going to the movies and watching the whole thing there.”

But he does plan on going to see it when the movie comes out.
