West Africa Ebola Death Toll Rises by 1, 000 in a Week, to 7, 000
The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that the number of Ebola-related deaths in West Africa has suddenly risen to 6, 928.
The toll has increased by more than 1, 000 since WHO’s last report on Wednesday. The sudden jump could be related to previously unreported deaths.
Infection rates, which are more telling the death toll figures, according to the BBC, are decreasing in Liberia, but remain high in Sierra Leone.
The BBC reports more 16, 000 cases in Guinea, Sierra and Liberia. In Sierra Leone, Ebola is spreading faster than anywhere else in, with 6, 802 cases.
