Bette Midler Calls Ariana Grande a Whore, then Apologizes

Bette Midler

Bette Midler is well known as a diva and as such no one is surprised when she makes shocking comments. But apparently this time she went to far and was forced to apologize to Ariana Grande.

Apparently the 68 year old legend included the 21 year old newcomer in a recent rant leveled against young singers.

Midler turned to Twitter to make an apology of sorts saying, “About my screed on @ArianaGrande, all I can say is spoken like a reformed old whore. She does have a beautiful voice, on a couch or off.”

In an interview with England’s The Telegraph Midler had commented, “It’s always surprising to see someone like Ariana Grande with that silly high voice, a very wholesome voice, slithering around on a couch looking so ridiculous. I mean, it’s silly beyond belief and I don’t know who’s telling her to do it. I wish they’d stop.”

“Trust your talent, ” she added. “You don’t have to make a whore out of yourself to get ahead. You really don’t.”

For her part Grande had responded to Midler’s original comments by tweeting, “Bette was always a feminist who stood for women being able to do whatever the F they wanted without judgment!. I’m not sure where that Bette went but I want that sexy mermaid back!!! always a fan no matter what my love.”
