Erdogan: Muslims Discovered Americas, Columbus Saw their Mosque

erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a man of sanity, integrity, and shoe boxes stuffed with cash, has told a conference of Latin American Muslim leaders gathered in Istanbul that Muslims discovered the Americas more than three hundred years before Christopher Columbus.

He pinpointed the date exactly, saying “Muslim sailors arrived in America in 1178.”

The Turkish president based his claim on a widely disputed article published in 1996 by one Dr. Youssef Mroueh of the As-Sunnah Foundation of America. Mroueh wrote that “Columbus admitted in his papers that on Monday, October 21, 1492 CE while his ship was sailing near Gibara on the north-east coast of Cuba, he saw a mosque on top of a beautiful mountain.”

That diary entry is understood as a metaphoric reference to a protuberance on the summit of a mountain that resembles a mosque’s dome or minaret. To date, no pre-Columbian ruin of an Islamic structure has been discovered. Of course, this only means that Islam haters went and destroyed all of them.

Erdoğan announced that Ankara is prepared to build a mosque in Cuba. “Now I will speak to my Cuban brother [representing his country in the summit]. A mosque would be appropriate on top of that mountain today, too. Their permission is enough [for Turkey to build a mosque in Cuba], ” he added, while addressing Latin American Islamic leaders.

So, Cuban Communists will now go Muslim. That should clear things up for President Obama to lift the embargo…
