At a gathering of Robin Hood, an organization dedicated to fighting poverty in New York, David Saltzman, the executive director of the organization said, “We’re trying to turn New York city into a small town, ” according to Bloomberg.
The organization distributes grants to 200 non profits. Projects received $181 million last year and included charter schools, affordable housing, legal and social causes. At the event were
“Heroes” awards for $50, ooo each. Honorees included the Brooklyn Kindergarten Society, the River Fund and Zearn, which provides digital math education.
