Pic2Go, an Israeli startup which offers event photo tagging and branded social sharing, was sponsored by Volkswagen at last week’s 2014 Bucharest Marathon.
Pic2Go patent pending 2D barcodes technology automatically tags participants in event photos. The company streamlines branded photo sharing to participants’ Facebook pages, which it says generates huge buzz and social media reach for the branded event.

The seventh edition of Bucharest International Marathon took place onOctober 5th. More than 8000 participants from 50 countries participated in the marathon, half marathon, relay and popular races.
Volkswagen sponsored Pic2Go solution at the event, offering thousands of runners the opportunity get their race day photos automatically tagged and instantly posted to Facebook, free of charge.
Pic2Go’s used special 2D barcodes on race bibs to automate race bib numbers recognition and race photo tagging. Race photos were instantly posted to the social media profiles of all runners who registered for the service.
8 marathon photographers took a over 18, 000 photos during the race.
1800 athletes registered for the Pic2Go application and had their Volkswagen-branded pictures posted to their Facebook profile during the race.
The event generated over 750 thousand Facebook impressions with friends and family enjoying watching athletes’ branded sports pictures posted to Facebook in real time.
