Barbra Streisand’s Homeless Stepson Rummages through Trash for Food

Jess Brolin - Streisand stepson

Jess Brolin, 41, son of actor James Brolin and stepson of singer/actress Barbra Streisand, was recently photographed by adaronline.com picking through garbage in Ojai, California.

Ojai is a tourism destination with boutique hotels and recreation attractions like hiking and spiritual retreats. It also has small businesses specializing in local and ecologically friendly art, design, and home improvement—such as galleries and a solar power company.

Apparently, according to the Daily Mail, it has very good quality trash.

Jess Brolin lost his $800 per month apartment in 2011, so now he lives on the streets, the mail reported. He sleeps in vacant lots, approximately 80 miles from his family’s home.

The Mail quotes the Mirror, which reported that Brolin received a 6-figure inheritance in 1995 when his mother, James Brolin’s ex-wife Jane Cameron Agee, was killed in a car accident.

“He will sometimes be sleeping in a field behind shops, basically, wherever he can bed down, ” a source close to Jess told the Mirror, adding: “It can be very cold at night as it’s in the valley.”

There’s probably a lot more to the story, a lot of parental pain and anguish, and tough love. Some day, maybe we’ll find out about that side, too.
