The upgrade was released last week in its version 1.2.2. It lets users send their location (@Yo) by double tapping on a friend’s name. In iOS 8 users can Yo back from the lock-screen without opening the app.

Yo! CEO Or Arbel told The Times of Israel that the new function, ““opens up a whole world of possibilities for both users and service-providers using the Yo API.”

Yo! Stated, “Service providers can now offer their users one-tap location-based solutions to their customers’ needs. Want to know if it’s going to rain where you are? ‘Yo’ a weather service! Want a cab to pick you up? ‘Yo’ a taxi service! It’s that simple – and the applications are limitless.”

Yo! Is also offering a service called “hyperlocal connectivity” which connects users to people on the same WiFi network without ever accessing the Internet. The company says that with YO! on a smart phone, users get high-quality, video/voice calls; share photos, videos, and audio files; and message back and forth quickly and for free… all without ever touching the Internet.
