While All Eyes Were on Apple, Dell Released a Futuristic Tablet

Dell thinnest tablet in the world

There was much ado about iPhone 6s and iWatches, but who was watching Dell….not I. But those who attended the Intel Developers Conference saw CEO Michael Dell unveil a truly impressive tablet, which is the thinnest in the industry, must 6mm thick, compared to Sony’s 6.4 mm thick tablet. Its 8.4 inch screen displays brilliant colors. A grip on the left is close to speakers, and there are four cameras on the tablet, with technology that determines how close you are to the object you are photographing. One tap enables refocus of the entire image.

Everything about the Dell tablet is interesting except for its lackluster name: The Dell Venue 8 7840. Oh well, you can’t have everything, and what’s in a name, anyway.

The price of the tablet has not yet been announced, but it runs on Android 4.4 on a quad core 2.33 GHz Intel Atom z3580 processor, has wi-fi connectivity and 32 GB of storage. It should be in stores prior to the holidays.
