Court Dismisses Helicopter Accident Lawsuit against Billionaire Jeffrey Soffer

Jeffrey Soffer

On Monday, the 11th Judicial Circuit Court in Florida dismissed the lawsuit filed against Turnberry Associates chairman and Fontainebleau owner Jeffrey Soffer and others, over a helicopter accident in 2012 in the Bahamas. The case was filed earlier this year by Daria Pastouhkova Gogoleva.

The plaintiff, Gogoleva, alleged Soffer was behind the chopper’s controls during the accident in the Bahamas on Thanksgiving Day, 2012, that killed Lance Valdez, having taken over mid-flight from the professional pilot, David Pearce. Former supermodel Elle Macpherson, Soffer’s wife, had been mentioned in the lawsuit.

Bob Martinez, an attorney for Mr. Soffer, issued the following statement:

“We are very pleased by the court’s decision to dismiss the case. As we have said from the outset, this was a frivolous case filled with baseless accusations intended solely to generate headlines.”
