In Steinberg’s 30 year career he has managed 150 players in all  major sports, and for a record 8 times, he has represented the top pick in the NFL draft. Many suspect that he is the inspiration for the box office hit Jerry Maguire, in which Tom Cruise plays a sports manager.

Leigh Steinberg has been a vocal in encouraging celebrity male athlete’s to take a leading role in raising awareness about violence against women. In a Huffington Post article, he called into question the lenient 2 game suspension of Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice for beating his girlfriend, while players with possession of small amounts of marijuana have faced more draconian penalties. He advised  heavyweight boxer Lennox Lewis  in his public service announcement “Real Men Don’t hit Women.”
