Just when you thought there was at least something fixed in the firmament of stars, now we learn that Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband Chris Martin have decided to separate.
The couple, who have been married since 2003, have two children, Apple, who is nine, and Moses, who is seven.
They announced the separation with a statement on Paltrow’s website Goop. This is what is says:
“It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate.
We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been. We are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time.
We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and co-parent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.”

Well that is certainly a shock, but demonstrates that no one is immune from a rocky personal life, even while from all appearances “having it all.” It also perhaps sheds some additional light on the purchase of the new home in Malibu Beach that we all learned just about ten days ago ; the natural question will inevitably be which one of them will take it now as their own base?
