Nina Tassler, as a result of her remarkable achievements as head of the Entertainment division at CBS, during which she masterminded the station’s rise to become the most popular TV channel for the last decade, has been promoted to the role of chairman, thanks to the success of such top hits as How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, The Good Wife and Person of Interest to name but a few of the programs which she was responsible for developing.
Now CBS intend to use Ms. Tassler’s talents in an expanded role as chairman in which she will be given full responsibility for the Network’s Entertainment programming covering primetime, daytime and late night. In addition, Nina will be responsible for program development covering all spectrums of the channel’s activities as well as directing a growing year-round programming.
The announcement of Nina Tassler’s promotion was made by Leslie Moonves, the CBS Corporation President and CEO, who was effusive in his praise of the new chairperson stating that Nina’s creative instincts, programming savvy and leadership skills have helped form a hit-making machine that has fueled the Network’s success and benefitted the Company’s bottom line.
Moonves went on to add that Nina had been both a colleague and a friend for more than 25 years, during which time he had witnessed first-hand the genuine and positive energy, as well as hands-on skills that she brings to every facet of the creative process. “There are very few executives with her track record of consistently achieving high-level success in all forms of entertainment programming.” Mr. Moonves summed up.
In her new position as chairman of CBS, for which he has signed a new contract until the end of 2017, Ms. Tassler will continue to report to Les Moonves.
Nina Tassler graduated with a bachelor of fine arts in theater from Boston University.
Ms. Tassler has held the position of President of CBS Entertainment since September 2004. Prior to reaching a post she was Executive Vice President in charge of Drama Series Development for around a year moving up the ladder from being Senior Vice President, in charge of Drama Development, and Vice President for Drama. Before joining CBS, Nina held a similar post at Warner Brothers Television.
