Julian Edelman, who  was drafted in 2009 in the seventh round of the  NFL season  by the New England Patriots of the National Football League For the Patriots, remained with the team for five successful seasons before becoming a free agent at the end of last season.

Now Robert Kraft,  owner of the Patriots has expressed his desire in re-signing  Edelman, a fact that he “ leaked” during a conversation with  sports reporters after the  annual Super Bowl press conference.

However, those in the know, are speculating that Edelman hooking up again with the Patriots many not be as much a foregone conclusion as Kraft would want it to be, with Edelman is looking for a similar deal to that negotiated by wide receiver Danny Amendola who received a five-year contract worth $28.5 million from the Patriots last year, with $10 million of that money being guaranteed.

Edelman may well be putting out feelers (or vice versa) with Bill O’Brien, now head coach of the Houston Texans who was on the coaching staff at the New England Patriots, and know Justin and what he is capable of doing better than most.

National Football League  pundits  point out that Justin  Edelman would dovetail very nicely into a three-receiver team  in cahoots with Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins.

No doubt in anticipation of some tough negotiations ahead, Robert Kraft heaped praise on Edelman and his achievements for the team last season, emphasizing  his hope that the young and versatile player will want to re-sign with the club he has spent all of his professional career to date with.

Justin Edelman is known for the versatility of his play, having played with both the Patriots as  a wide receiver and defensive back.   Edelman is holder of  the Patriot’s franchise record for the  longest punt return.
