Adam Sandler has earned himself a niche Hollywood as an actor, director and producer of films which appeal to a certain audience, do well at the box office but fail in any way to impress the film critics.

For that reason during his film career which has been running for more than 15 years, Adam has figured regularly in the list of nominees to receive a Razzle, a shortened version of “Golden Raspberry”.

For those who are not acquainted with the movie business being awarded a Razzle by the panel of movie critics who handed these so-called awards is not something you welcome with open arms.

The reason being that being awarded a Golden Raspberry is the exact opposite of being handed an Oscar, with the only thing they have in common is that  Razzies are also handed out at a form of  award ceremony, where none of recipients turn up to pick up their awards, which come in the form of a raspberry, sitting on top of a Super 8 mm film reel, with an award amateurishly painted in gold.

To make matters worse, this year’s Golden Raspberry awards ceremony, the 34th annual ceremony is scheduled to be held on March 1, 2014, traditionally one day before the Oscar ceremonies.

Adam Sandler throughout this career has been nominated 14 times in a variety of categories, gaining his first in 1999 for the worst actor of the year in the film “Big Daddy.”

In the last few years, Sandler has captured the attention of the film critics on a much more regular  basis, with his 2011 release “Jack and Jill” picking up six of the potential ten awards.

The following year things did get a little  better for Sandler when he was awarded only one Razzie, once again as worst actor in the film “That’s My Boy.”

Those two consecutive Worst Actor awards put Adam Sandler on a par with Sylvester Stallone and Pauly Shore who have won the award three times, but never consecutively.

However, it looks like this year, Adam Sandler is going to reach new horizons as being the first actor in the history of Hollywood to win three consecutive Razzies  as Worst Actor for his appearance work in “Grown Ups 2”. If you Adam does pull off this unwelcome feat, he will have not only broken an unwelcome record, but will also be in joint fourth place with Sly Stallone as the most awarded Worst Actor in Razzie history, with each having the opportunity  to display no less than four Razzie  awards in their display  cabinet.

Meanwhile, Adam  may not be too concerned  about his lack of critical praise, having established a personal fortune of around $300 million, mostly earned by appearing  in comedy aligned movies that have grossed over $2 billion at the box office.

Adam Sandler  owns  his own film production company, Happy Madison Productions, which he formed in 1999, and  has been responsible for numerous successful box office movies as well as  a number of television series.
