“The name is Bond, James Bond…” Your personal story may not be quite as spicy as that of Britain’s most famous spy, but everyone has a good story to tell, as long as you know how to sell it. At least, that’s what TheName.Is, a new Israeli startup, wants you to believe.
Targeted at business people looking to network or just trying to find out more about a potential business contact, TheName.Is automatically aggregates a person’s social feeds into a sleek video that includes personal and professional info.
CEO Dror Galis explains: “What’s in a name? Your name is everything. Your name goes before you. People have heard your name and they can surely recall a thing or two from your professional or personal biography but we have always felt that they, and we, can do better. So we created TheName.Is – a platform where your name is your business card, your e-bio, the virtual reflection of you.”
TheName.Is essentially works as a match-maker site in the business world. Once a client signs up, they link in all of their social media profiles with their account on TheName.Is. The system then proceeds to create a real-time video representation of recent activity on social media websites and sorts all of the information provided in order to create an organized, multi-layered, informative and visually-appealing profile.

Making business personal
“TheName.Is is an ice-breaker substitute. It allows you to get to know your potential business partner before you’ve even met them.” Unlike other professional networking websites, TheName.Is showcases not only your work-related posts and tweets, but also more personal information such as where you like to travel, or where you went out last night. “We believe that a personal connection emerges before a professional one – it is what ensures that people can work together, ” explains Galis.
In parallel, TheName.Is claim that they don’t only improve potential work relationships, but also save time, since the large amount of information is presented visually and the elements of a person’s profile can be absorbed more quickly. “We’re aiming to make the process of business networking much easier, ” says Galis.
Indeed, accessing information on the website involves less work – a user only has to watch instead of read and doesn’t have to hop between various profiles and links. “It not only allows you to gain a more wholesome understanding of your professional business partner, but also be better prepared for meetings, ” Galis adds.
Commercializing an individual
TheName.Is says that the resulting real-time video aggregation of a person’s newsfeed essentially creates a commercial of them, with their interests, achievements and experiences. Galis adds: “The best part is that the video is always up-to-date: TheName.Is continuously updates your profile to create the most real-time representation possible, progressing in parallel to you.”
“Each profile presents 10 to 15 times more information than any other professional-networking website, ” he claims.
“Meaningful connections are made when you are able to conquer both heart and mind, ” the company website says. “With TheName.Is we aim to provide you with a bigger richer picture beyond past experiences and current positions to interests, opinions, family, social circles and much more.
In the future, TheName.Is plans to connect more data and social-media websites to their profiles to create an even more complete presentation of their users, along with the option of a virtual personal assistant. They also hope to expand their system to other social networking systems, such as dating.
TheName.Is was founded by Dror Galis and three other partners. The founders have extensive experience in IT, graphic design and advertising. The team is currently looking for investors for their startup.
