The World’s Most Expensive Passports

INS Demonstrates DataShare System

The price of a passport depends heavily on your nationality. In the United States, a $110 application fee and $25 acceptance fee add up to $135. Even though that may seem expensive, other countries have to fork out much more. According to Go Euro, Turkey has the most expensive passport in the world at $251. It would take about 95 hours of minimum wage work to afford one compared to just 19 hours on the minimum wage in the United States. A passport is also a huge investment for Mexicans. It costs $155 and an average person on the minimum wage would have to work a whopping 266 hours to afford one.

This chart shows passport prices and minimum wage hours required to buy one in 2015.
