World Leaders Condemn Iranian Attack on Israel

IAI SEA SERPENT Missile Firing

The Iranian regime may have miscalculated when it chose to launch its missile attack on Israel overnight. The condemnation of Iran’s attack from world leaders was as swift as it was harsh.

Overnight Iran launched a combination of hundreds of surface-to-surface missiles, cruise missiles (ones that can be directed at their target by remote control) and armed drones at Israel. Israeli authorities reported that 99% were shot down by both the country’s own vaunted Iron Dome anti-missile defense system and the American military which launched its own anti-missile missiles from various locations in the region.

Of the missiles shot down, only a small minority even made it to within Israeli air space.

In response to the attack, Prime Minister of England Rishi Sunak said, “Iran’s attack last night was a dangerous and unnecessary escalation. I want to pay tribute to the professionalism and bravery of the Royal Air Force and our allies in protecting civilians.

Petr Fiala Prime Minister of the Czech Republic said, “We stand firmly behind Israel and its right to defend itself!”

Mark Rutte Prime Minister of the Netherlands commented, “The Netherlands’ National Security Council has just met by telephone to discuss the situation in the Middle East. The Netherlands condemns Iran’s dangerous and reckless attacks in the strongest possible terms. It is good that Israel was able to effectively repel the attacks. Israel’s security must not come under further threat. Regional escalation must be prevented. We will continue to monitor the situation extremely closely.”

Karl Nehammer Chancellor of Austria said, “Iran‘s attack on Israel is to be condemned in the strongest possible terms. Austria is firmly committed to Israel‘s security and we call on Iran for immediate stop of hostilities.”

Jan Lipavský Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic said, “Czechia firmly condemns the destabilizing behavior of Iran and its proxies who decided to attack Israel. We reiterate the Israeli right to self-defense. Iran’s long-term aggressive behavior is preventing the Middle East region from living in peace and security.”

“This is a new level of escalation in a situation which is already highly dangerous. Call on Iran and its proxies to stop adding fuel to the fire and to urgently reverse course,” he added.

Justin Trudeau Prime Minister of Canada issued a full statement which read, “Canada unequivocally condemns Iran’s airborne attacks against Israel. We stand with Israel. After supporting Hamas’ brutal October 7 attack, the Iranian regime’s latest actions will further destabilize the region and make lasting peace more difficult.”

The statement went on to say that the attacks demonstrate “yet again the Iranian regime’s disregard for peace and stability in the region. We support Israel’s right to defend itself and its people from these attacks.”

Olaf Scholz, the Chancellor of Germany, said, “The attack on Israeli territory that Iran launched tonight is unjustifiable and highly irresponsible. Iran risks a further escalation in the region. Germany stands by Israel and we will discuss the situation with our allies.”

Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Ciolacu commented, “We stand in full solidarity with the Israeli people in the face of Iran’s attack. We strongly condemn this attack and support Israel’s right to ensure the security of its citizens.”

Viktor Orbán, the Prime Minister of Hungary, said, “We condemn last night’s attack against Israel, and pray for the safety of the Israeli people.”

President of Paraguay Santiago Peña commented, “In such difficult times we express our full support for the people of Israel and we see with concern the increase in violence in the region. We remain in contact with our embassies in the region to serve our compatriots.

Even the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, had words of support for Israel saying, “I condemn in the strongest terms the unprecedented attack launched by Iran against Israel, which threatens to destabilize the region.”

“I express my solidarity with the Israeli people and France’s commitment to the security of Israel, our partners, and regional stability,” he added.
