Hamas Once Again Caught Hidding Weapons and Terrorists Inside Gaza’s Shifa Hospital

IDF

Shifa Hospital Gaza (IDF)

During its recent operation in the Shifa Hospital compound in Gaza the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) reported that its soldiers uncovered large caches of weapons stored there by the Hamas terrorist organization. These included Kalashnikov type automatic rifles that were hidden in patients’ beds and areas such as the maternity ward. And this was not the IDF’s first operation in Shifa Hospital, meaning that since its earlier sweep of the area when it uncovered weapons there Hamas terrorists returned to the hospital to use it as a base once again.

Terrorists in the hospital who reportedly opened fire on the Israeli forces were killed.

The weapons and more were uncovered as part of operations conducted by the IDF’s Nahal Infantry Brigade under the intelligence guidance of the Shin Bet (the Hebrew initials for Israel’s anti-terror General Security Services). The infantry forces at Shifa Hospital cleared several buildings inside the hospital, eliminated terrorists, and located many weapons that were hidden in the compound.

In the maternity complex, the forces located many weapons hidden in the pillows and beds of the patients, in the ceilings and walls of the compound, among them, dozens of mortar bombs, explosive devices, sniper weapons, Kalashnikovs, pistols, chargers, cartridges, mortars, and other ammunition.

Over the last two weeks, the Nahal Brigades special forces reconnaissance patrol has been fighting alongside the Israeli Navy’s Shayaete 13t commando unit in the Shifa.

The commander of the Nahal Patrol, Capt. Yanai (his first name only – full names of special forces soldiers are classified) said, “the Nahal Patrol has been assigned the mission of the maternity hospital. According to a large amount of intelligence, many terrorists operated in the maternity hospital.”

The Captain described how before his unit’s assault, they called to any civilians in the hospital compound to vacate the area after which many, including, women and children came out.

However, some terrorists tried to hide among the escaping civilians who were discovered.

Israeli aircraft also struck a building there from which terrorists had launched an anti-tank missile at Israeli forces.
