France Limits Israeli Participation at Eurosatory arms exhibition Due to Gaza War

The exhibition is scheduled for Paris in June.

The French government is not happy with Israel’s continued prosecution of its “Iron Swords” war against the Hamas terrorist organization in Gaza. Because of this, the country is considering placing limitations on arms deals with the country and has already imposed stringent restrictions on the participation of Israeli arms companies at the upcoming Eurosatory arms exhibition scheduled for Paris in June.

While neither the government of France, nor the Eurosatory arms exhibition itself, have made any official statements on the matter, the Israeli publication Calacalist reported that the French Ministry of Defense will have the “authority to prohibit the presentation of Israeli weapons at its discretion.”

Israel is known for many things, from being Startup Nation to growing oranges. But over the years it has been best known for its arms industry. Companies like Elbit Systems and Rafael are developing the latest in military drones and missile defense systems like Israel’s vaunted Iron Dome. Such companies will be represented at the Eurosatory arms exhibition.

“I have participated in many exhibitions like this, and there has never been such a demand, which simply diminishes Israel’s status,” an executive at one of Israel’s defense companies participating at the conference told Calcalist.

“Requiring prior approval from authorities to bring exhibits to the exhibition is humiliating and cannot stand,” he added.

This news comes as pressure grows in France to impose some sort of sanctions on Israel over the ongoing war.

France 24 reported recently that French NGOs and leftist members of the parliamentary opposition have “increased the pressure on France’s government to reconsider arms sales to Israel in the wake of the war in Gaza.”
