IDF Forces operating in the Gaza Hamas headquarters (IDF)

The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) had what was no less than a major success on Sunday when forces from its Givati Infantry Brigade carried out a raid on the central headquarters of Hamas’s Khan Yunis terror brigade in Gaza. The headquarters was not only used as a base for the training of the terrorists who enacted the barbaric Hamas terror attack on October 7, it also served as an office for senior Hamas official Mohammad Sinwar, brother of Hamas’ leader Yahya Sinwar.

The two are believed to be currently hiding in a bunker somewhere in southern Gaza.

This headquarters was based in Hamas’ “Al-Qadsia” outpost, which the IDF describes as a main base. Its forces uncovered models simulating the entrances to Israeli kibbutzim and military bases that were attacked on October 7 as well as IDF armored vehicles.

The base also contained rocket storage facilities and tunnel shafts leading to underground tunnel routes.

Israeli forces also uncovered in the headquarters a lathe for the production of munitions, as well as many munitions including anti-tank missiles, RPGs, machine guns, grenades and more.

When they entered the outpost, IDF forces saw that Hamas terrorists had booby trapped it with many explosives, some of which were buried inside the walls, and neutralized by IDF engineering forces.

In addition, many terrorists entrenched near the outpost opened fire on the force. The terrorists were eliminated by sniper fire, tank fire and with the support of the Air Force.

“The brigade operates with intensity in the west of Khan Yunis and succeeds in bringing the terrorists out of their hiding places every day,” said the commander of the Givati Brigade, Lt. Col. Liron Batito, who was clearly proud of his troops.

“I am proud that I got to lead a brigade like the Givati Brigade in this war,” he added. “The current generation have proven to be just as committed and valuable as the previous generations.”
