Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, made the unusual step of getting directly involved in the US presidential elections, calling on people to throw their support behind former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley. Dimon said that people should support her “even if you’re a very liberal Democrat.”

The comments came when speaking with Andrew Ross Sorkin at The New York Times DealBook Summit about the 2024 presidential election.

“If you’re a very liberal Democrat, I urge you to help Nikki Haley, too,” he said. “Give them a choice on the Republican side that might be better than Trump.”

The reason for this is simple: Jamie Dimon does not want Donald Trump to be president again.

But the businessman was cautious in his words, refusing to come right out and criticize Trump saying, “He might be the president, I have to live with that too.”

Dimon was, however, critical of people on the Left for show they show disdain for Trump supporters.

“You’re insulting a large group of people,” Jamie Dimon said. “I just think people [should] stop denigrating each other all the time because people take a point of view that is different than yours.”

Jamie Dimon also had some dire warnings for the world’s economies in the near future.

Dimon said that he is “cautious about the economy,” explaining that “inflation is hurting people.”

“A lot of things out there are dangerous and inflationary. Be prepared,” he said. “Interest rates may go up and that might lead to recession.”
