Starbucks Union Accuses Israel of Genocide

Starbucks is distancing itself from the union.

The Starbucks workers’ union is taking its attacks on Israel to a new extreme. Starbucks Workers United is calling for boycotts of Israel calling the country an “Apartheid state” guilty of genocide. This after Hamas terrorists murdered more than a thousand innocent civilians, gunning people down as they fled for their lives, burning people alive including babies and many other barbaric acts.

The Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce (OJC) called for a boycott of Starbucks because of this.

So, what did the union do that was so bad?

Well, in a Tweet released October 20 that has not been taken down, Starbucks Workers United posted a flier in Starbucks’ green that read in bog capital letters, “Starbucks Workers United Stand with Palestine.”

And it went on to say, “We Condemn The OCCUPATION, DISPLACEMENT, STATE VIOLENCE, APARTHEID AND THREAT OF GENOCIDE PALESTINIANS FACE.”

And this after the organization removed an earlier Tweet that seemed tame in comparison.

“Please join us in raising awareness about this distressing issue. Share this Boycott with friends, family, and coworkers, urging them to reevaluate their choices and consider the implications of supporting Starbucks,” the OJC said in a public call. “Together, let us make a resounding statement against the indifference displayed towards the loss of innocent lives.”

In a letter to the UJC cited in the Jerusalem Post, Starbucks Coffee Company executive vice president and chief communications officer AJ Jones II said that the company filed a complaint in federal court against Workers United and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) for “misusing our name, logo, and intellectual property.”

He added that this misuse included a “statement paired with an image of a bulldozer tearing down a part of the Israel and Gaza border, indicating their support for the violence orchestrated by Hamas. Such reckless behavior warrants scrutiny to safeguard our partners and clarify Starbucks’s official stance.”

“Starbucks unequivocally condemns acts of terrorism, hate, and violence,” declared Jones. “We strongly disagree with the views expressed by Worker’s United.”

Starbucks condemned earlier tweets released by the union. A statement said, “We unequivocally condemn acts of terrorism, hate and violence, and disagree with the statements and views expressed by Workers United and its members. Workers United’s words and actions belong to them, and them alone.”

And on the lighter side, if there is such a thing, Starbucks is suing its employees’ union, Starbucks Workers United, but not over labor issues. The biggest coffee company in the world is suing the union to make it stop using the Starbucks corporate logo in its messages attacking Israel over the current fighting in Gaza. The union returned the favor so now both are suing one another.

Starbucks not only demands the union stop using its iconic green logo, but the company is also seeking to force Starbucks Workers United to stop using its name. Starbucks is suing for trademark infringement claiming that the anti-Israel posts in sympathy with Hamas harmed its brand name and alienated customers.
