Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Azercosmos, the Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan entered into a cooperation agreement for the sale of two of IAI’s multi-spectral electro-optical satellites. IAI said these satellites have better than 0.5-meter native resolution with a long life span and high imaging performance.

The IAI-Azercosmos deal is a significant step forward in space technology and cooperation between the two companies. It is also a testament to IAI’s expertise in satellite design and manufacturing.

The two satellites that IAI will provide to Azercosmos are expected to be state-of-the-art, with better than 0.5-meter native resolution and a long life span with high imaging performance. These capabilities will make them ideal for a variety of applications, including Earth observation and monitoring, disaster response, urban planning, agricultural management, mineral exploration and security and defense.

The agreement also includes a long-term business partnership between IAI and Azercosmos, which will involve the establishment of innovation and entrepreneurship centers in the field of space in Azerbaijan, as well as academic and study programs in the field of space. This partnership will help to develop Azerbaijan’s space industry and create new opportunities for both companies.

The establishment of innovation and entrepreneurship centers, as well as academic and study programs in the field of space in Azerbaijan, will help to create a new generation of skilled workers and entrepreneurs who can drive the country’s space industry forward. This will also open up new opportunities for both companies to collaborate on new projects and to develop new products and services.

One specific area of cooperation that I am particularly interested in is the development of new satellite applications. The two companies could work together to develop new applications for Earth observation, disaster response, and other areas where Azerbaijan has a strong interest. This could lead to the development of new products and services that could benefit both companies and the wider space community.

IAI President and CEO, Boaz Levy –said that for his firm, “the sky is not a limit but merely the starting point for our systems capabilities.”

He added that IAI’s commitment to innovation and exploration motivates the firm to partner with the “foremost experts in the global space community, as we ambitiously shape the future of space observation together,” and that the company is “proud to have made significant contributions to this cooperation for Azerbaijan, and we are sure that this collaboration will propel us to new heights.”

Azercosmos Chairman of the Board Samaddin Asadov said that this project is unique for both Azercosmos and Israel Aerospace Industries and will “undoubtedly contribute to the development of space cooperation between our countries. I consider our cooperation to be an important step in the development of human capital and space technologies in the country.”

“Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Azercosmos)” is a legal entity of public law participating in the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of space activities, exercising regulation and control in this area, functions of national and social importance in the field of launching into orbit, operating telecommunications satellites, satellites for observation of the Earth’s surface and for other purposes and their control, participating in international space projects, cooperating with relevant international organizations and government agencies of foreign states in the field of the use of outer space for peaceful purposes.
