Alan Dershowitz Is Still Defending Donald Trump

Allan Dershowitz on Newsmax

Alan Dershowitz, the one-time respected Harvard law professor and champion of civil liberties is once again coming to the aid of former President Donald Trump. This comes as little surprise since Alan Dershowitz has long since lost credibility and is now known mostly for being a media whore and a Trump sycophant.

The old saying goes that the most dangerous place in the world is anywhere between a politician and a television camera. Well, now we should add Alan Dershowitz to that.

But don’t look for Alan Dershowitz on any of the serious news networks or outlets. They seem to have had their fill of the man. The proof that Mr. Dershowitz is addicted to appearing in front of a camera anywhere can be found in his appearances on irrelevant news channels with few if any viewers.

So, what has Dershowitz been saying? Apparently, he believes that the government wants to take away Donald Trump’s right to free speech because it asked the court to impose a protective order after Trump basically threatened anyone who is involved in the prosecutions against him, witnesses for the prosecution included. Specifically, Trump wrote on social media, “IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I’M COMING AFTER YOU!”

On the Breitbart News Sunday show on Sirius satellite radio Alan Dershowitz said, “there’s no basis for restricting his free speech.”

If Alan Dershowitz is such an expert on the law and the First Amendment shouldn’t he know that threats are not covered by free speech, nor are attempts to intimidate potential witnesses in a trial? Doesn’t he know that gag orders are standard practice in any trial?

And this is not all. Alan Dershowitz apparently believes that trying to overturn an election is somehow covered by the right to free speech, even when the person in question directly asked people to commit crimes in order to do so.

Alan Dershowitz told Fox News, “Everything involves his [Trump’s] exercise of free speech. Not just his First Amendment free speech but also his First Amendment right to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”
