The Israeli Hi-Tech Association and the Korean Information Security Industry Association (KISIA) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to promote business cooperation between Israeli and Korean companies in the fields of global information security and the cybersecurity industry. The organizations said this will open a “direct line” to the markets in South Korea for Israeli firms.

Israel Startup Nation is at the forefront of cybersecurity and the development of new security technologies. South Korea has long been known as a manufacturing and business power. The business ties between the two countries have been growing for years and it makes sense that Korea would want to work with Israel’s high-tech sector, especially in the field of cybersecurity.

The agreement was signed by Marian Cohen, the chair of the Hi-Tech Association, and Maya Schwartz, the executive director of the association, and Dongbum Lee, the chairman of KISIA. The agreement was signed as part of the international business development of the association and the Israeli Cyber Companies Forum.

The Israel Hi-Tech Association and KISIA stated that as part of the agreement, the two bodies will strive for cooperation in the following areas: support for relevant initiatives carried out by each party, including mutual visits; holding seminars and other business meetings, focusing on the issues of the global cyber and information security industry; Cooperation to improve systems related to the information security industry; and available sharing of information on trends in the industry, trends in countries or other market data. The connections between the entities include reference to the printed and electronic media, links to websites and other relevant data. Also, the two agreed on research cooperation.

The Israeli High-Tech association is home to over 200 member organizations that represent the following sectors: semiconductors, communication, electro-optics, medical equipment, software products, homeland security, electronics, and software houses.

The association is focused on promoting the economic growth of the High-Tech industry, representing the industry in front of the government, Knesset, and other government authorities, and advocating for favorable policies to the industry and the removal of the obstacles that impede its progress.

Marian Cohen said, “This is a significant milestone for the beginning of cooperation on information security and cyber. I am very excited with the signing of the agreement. We at the Hi-Tech Association work diligently to create business opportunities for our members and this is a tremendous opportunity to do business with Korea in these areas as well.”
